Joe Biden Adds Seniority and Sass

I almost donated today — because the tricky email announcement to supporters naming Barry O.'s VP leads to an inspiring fundraising prompt. (I gave them plenty of information on how to contact and bother me later, though. So, once I do my monthly budget, I'll probably drop some coin.) Here's Biden at the Philadelphia Debate last year talking about putting a brick through the other guy’s windshield; talking about taking it out and chopping it up.

As would be expected, here's McCain's people pointing out that way back in 2005, Biden would have been happy to run with McCain. You remember: the version of John McCain that could have plausibly been construed as a maverick; the one who ran against George W. Bush.

Happy Mr. 4th of July, America!

I hope everyone has a great Independence Day weekend (while I am inside coloring my recent cartooning project in Photoshop)—and to prove the earnestness of that wish, here are some 4th of July bemusements:

This next one is pretty indefensible.
Did I say indefensible? I meant, hilarious.

And lastly, Fresh Prince of Bel Air Pumas.

Al Qaeda Accepting Proposals ["9/11 Was A Job"]

From Wired's Danger Room blog:
"Senior al-Qaida leaders through a password protected Internet message board periodically ask their loyal readers to send in their best ideas for attacking their enemies," reports National Defense, quoting recent remarks by Rita Katz, of the SITE Institute.
WFMU's resident anti-fascist researcher (conspiracy theorist), Dave Emory, has been a big fan of Rita's since her participation in the Operation Greenquest raids, a quashed attempt to hold a few Virginia-based Saudi charities accountable for funding al-Qaeda. She's also been profiled in the NYT's.

The Magic That Is Brian Fellows

It's pretty obvious to me that unless "Zippy Video" has some serious scheme up it's sleeve, it isn't going to make it past "Zippy Video BETA"—though I am glad this scrappy upstart is here to provide all the "Brian Fellows Safari Planet" skits that SNL isn't putting on Hulu yet.

9/11 Was A Job

The Los Angeles Times reports on documents that depict Al Qaeda as "an organization obsessed with paperwork and penny-pinching and afflicted with a damaging propensity for feuds." Memos, budgetary woes, staffing problems, man keeps biting dog in this chortle-fest until there's no dog left ... cuz is bean al eated!!1!

MORE IMPORTANTLY: I am left wanting to know more about this quoted terrorism expert, Rohan Gunaratna. What's his story? Does something out-of-the-ordinary (like him biting a dog) happen in it? [Link; Photo from The Onion]

October 2001: Conference at WTC Would Have Discussed Terrorism and Building Collapses

Somehow, I refuse to believe this is true:
Audrey McKibbin Moran, chief of staff for Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney, was reading the mail yesterday when she came across an invitation to the mayor.

In October, an emergency preparedness conference would include discussion on terrorism.

"One of the topics they were going to talk about was the danger of collapsing buildings," Moran said.

It would have been at the World Trade Center.
